Since rebranding to BSP Life in May 2011, BSP Life staff have carried out numerous community projects:
In July, BSP Life Staff happily donated blood to the CWM Hospital Blood Bank.
On Saturday, 10 September BSP Life Staff took part in an environmental project at Muaivuso Village in Veisari. Muaivuso village is marked as a Marine Protected Area. Staff, families and friends together with members of the Leadership Fiji 2010 team planted 5,000 mangrove seedlings. This is a 5 year maintenance plan and it is the the second year into the plan. To plant a mangrove seedling means conributing to improving our marine eco-system, food security and a healthy environment. BSP Life believes that in sustaining the environment, the environment in turn sustains the livelihood of people.
Diabetes Centre Assistance
BSP Life staff participated in a Health Walk on Saturday, 29 October 2011 and proceeds of this walk was donated to the National Diabetes Centre on Wednesday, 16 November 2011. An amount of $9,165 was collected. Diabetes remains one of Fiji's most pressing health problem . it is estimated that 1 in 5 adults have the disease and with increased risk factors such as obesity, diabetes is a national concern. It is BSP Life's belief that if we can help fund the National Diabetes Centre in their endeavours to reduce the numbers with diabetes, it will be a great boost to the quality of life for individuals, family, society and Nation. As a nation we need to have healthy people to progress.
Annual Clean up Challenge
We also participate in an annual challenge to clean the Nasese foreshore with the US Embassy on a designated day and time.. The team that collects the most rubbish along foreshore down USP wins the annual prizes presented by the Suva City Council.
BSP Life is always committed to EARTH HOUR, a world wide campaign to switch-off all lights for an hour to assist with the issue of Climate Change. Although the organisers cancelled this years event, BSP Life under the BSP Fiji Group continued to participate by switching-off all non-security lights at the BSP Life Centre in Suva from 8:30-9:30pm on March 19 2016.
